Our sources say that two daughters of Suhail Shaheen, the head of the Taliban’s political office in Doha, recently succeeded in earning their bachelor’s degrees from University of Doha for Science and Technology.
These girls, named Sara Shaheen and Elina Shaheen, graduated from the mentioned university several months ago, with the backing of their father.
It is said that this academic achievement starkly contrasts with the alarming situation faced by schoolgirls and female students in Afghanistan.
As 1,148 days have passed since girls were confined to their homes and deprived of their right to education, the Taliban continues to impose educational restrictions on females.
This situation has engendered significant psychological and emotional challenges for female students in Afghanistan.
While Suhail Shaheen has resided in Doha for several years and encourages his daughters to pursue higher education, he appears to have distanced himself from the stringent policies of his group in Afghanistan, particularly regarding the prohibition of girls’ education, likely for his personal interests. This contradiction between his personal life and the policies of the Taliban raises numerous questions about the future of women education in Afghanistan.
