A Taliban Morality Police Officer Slaps a Girl

Local sources in Bamyan province reported that a Taliban morality police officer struck a 21-year-old girl for her lacking a complete hijab.

Sources informed the Afghan Women’s News Agency on Wednesday that a Taliban promotion of virtue and prevention of vice officer slapped a girl in the center of Bamyan province for her lacking hijab and threatened her that if she ventured into the city and market again without a hijab, she would face legal repercussions.

However, sources indicate that this girl, while fully clad in an Arabic hijab, was deemed immodest and hijabless due to her visible hair, which led to her being struck by the Taliban morality officer.

This comes in the wake of a previous incident where Taliban morality officers detained three young girls in Balkh for similar reasons, and also last winter, the group arrested dozens of women and girls from various parts of Kabul and other provinces, including Daykundi, on charges of improper attire.
