Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of the Taliban has reported that two individuals, including a woman, have been detained in Kabul on charges of illicit relations.
In a statement shared on its social media platform X, the ministry indicated that these individuals were apprehended in the fifth district of the city and, after initial investigations, were handed over to the relevant authorities of the Taliban.
It has been reported that the inspectors of this ministry, following the enactment of the law on the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, have intensified the arrest of several citizens in Kabul and other provinces on charges of moral corruption.
It is important to mention that these recent detentions by the group on allegations of illicit relations in Kabul and the provinces will have detrimental effects on society, particularly on women and girls. This decision by the Taliban not only heightens fear and insecurity among citizens but also leads to further restrictions on the individual and social freedoms of women and girls, resulting in increased feelings of fear, isolation, seclusion, and suppression.
