The International Center for Journalists announced the list of annual winners of this organization today (Tuesday, May 24, 2022).
Anisa Shahid, an Afghan journalist, is one of seven award-winning journalists.

According to the list, a team of Ukrainian journalists and a journalist from El Salvador, along with Anisa Shahid, an Afghan journalist, have been recognized as winners of the International Center for Journalists’ annual award.

Anisa Shahid issued a message urging international organizations and media supporters not to spare any effort to keep freedom of expression alive in Afghanistan.
The International Center for Journalists Award is given to journalists who have made great efforts to inform and promote freedom of expression.

Anisa Shahid wins the award while women journalists in Afghanistan are being eliminated under the most limited circumstances under various pretexts.

In the latest act of the Ministry for Propagation the Virtue and the Prevention of Vice of the Taliban, women presenters in the media are required to wear black hijabs and veils or at least black masks. The Ministry for Propagation the Virtue and the Prevention of Vice of the Taliban has told that violating this, will lead to punishment.
