Arrest of Two Brothers by the Taliban in Kabul

Local sources in Kabul reported the detention of Hamid Farhadi, a journalist and former employee of the presidential administration, along with his brother by the Taliban in the city. Sources confirm to the Afghan Women’s News Agency that the Taliban apprehended them from their workplace and home on the morning of Tuesday, September 13, and subsequently transported them to an undisclosed location.

The group forces apprehended Farhadi from their residence in the fifteenth district, while his brother, Walid Farhadi, was taken from him in Khair Khane, Kabul.

According to reports available to this news agency, Hamid Farhadi has worked at the newspaper Etelaat-e-Roz and was arrested due to his journalistic activities. However, Walid Farhadi had recently graduated from university and was engaged in private work, but the reason for his detention remains unclear.

As of now, there is no information available regarding their fate. The Taliban group has not made any statements concerning this matter.

With the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, hundreds of former government employees have been subjected to various pretexts and, without any charges or offences, have faced insults, humiliation, torture, detention, and imprisonment at the hands of the group’s intelligence services. Some of them have also been killed under the most dire circumstances.
