Assistance from the WFP for 5 million women in Afghanistan

The World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations declared that it has distributed food aid to 5 million women and girls throughout the country.

The organization posted a message on the social media platform X, stating cash assistance has been granted to several women in Afghanistan. It further mentioned that with the support of the United Nations Women (UN Women) sector, hygiene and household kits are being provided to several women and girls.

However, World Food has not disclosed details regarding the distribution process or the recipients of the cash assistance, hygiene kits, and household supplies.

The World Food Programme recently announced its intention to provide aid for the nutrition of both girl and boy students in Afghanistan’s primary schools, supported by a grant of 10 million euros from the European Union. Some individuals in need of humanitarian assistance in the country are urging officials to pay closer attention to their issues and ensure that the aid is distributed fairly among those who are genuinely in need. Following the imposition of restrictions and the prohibition on women working within the United Nations, the distribution of humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan came to a halt, leaving millions of families deprived of vital support. Currently, this assistance is being rendered at a time when the people of Afghanistan are enduring dire economic conditions, exacerbated by poverty and unemployment over the past three years, with the number of individuals requiring humanitarian aid rising more than ever before.
