Avic Charity Institution has distributed household items, sewing supplies, and embroidery materials to nearly 550 women and girls who have been deprived of education in Parwan province.
Fariba (alias), who oversees one of the sewing workshops for girls deprived of education, where she prefers not to be named, stated that with the aid provided by this organization, she teaches the art of sewing to girls who have been left behind in education.
Fariba, with five years of experience in the art of tailoring, adds: “It has been almost three years that the doors of schools and universities are still closed to girls. Some of them, suffering from various forms of domestic violence, financial difficulties, depression, and many other challenges, are struggling in the corners of their homes. Now these supplies have been distributed to them so that they can use them to solve their own and their families’ problems.”
Furthermore, Hafiz Raz Mohammad Yaser, the director of industry and commerce in Parwan province, has also stated that after a careful survey of the center and six districts of this province, women and girls who have been left behind in education and qualify for such assistance have been selected by the Avic organization. Yaser described the goal of this organization as creating opportunities for job provision and strengthening the financial independence of educated women and girls, and he said: “These aids include sewing machines, refrigerators, embroidery machines, needles, irons, water purifiers, thread, and dozens of types of household items, clothes, and sewing materials have been distributed to 80 teams of deserving women and those women who have interest and diligence in the art of tailoring.”
He added that women who have official work permits can now work and alleviate their economic problems and those of their families by receiving these supplies.
Some of the women who have received this assistance and sewing supplies and household items have also stated that with the receiving of these aids, we can meet our own and our families’ needs inside the home.
