Continuation to Increasing Restrictions: Prohibition of Music at Wedding Gatherings

A source in contact with the Afghan Women’s News Agency reported that a few nights ago, the Taliban launched a sudden attack on a wedding ceremony, injuring two individuals, a 15-year-old girl and a man.

Taliban officials cited vice the playing of music during the event and its prohibition as the rationale behind the assault.

The ceremony, held in the Faizabad district of Badakhshan province, was disrupted by the arrival of the Taliban’s morality police, transforming what was meant to be a joyous occasion into a sombre, according to the source.

This incident follows a recent entertainment program in Balkh province that was banned due to clapping and whistling.

Over the course of their three years in power, the Taliban have imposed various restrictions on the Afghan populace, particularly targeting women, with such limitations continuing to escalate daily.
