Detention of a journalist by the Taliban in Parwan province

Local sources in Parwan province have reported the  of a former journalist of Maaref TV by the intelligence services of the Taliban group in this province.

Sources confirm to the Afghan Women’s News Agency that this former journalist was arrested by the Taliban intelligence on Thursday afternoon.

According to information from sources, this former journalist was named Abdullah Danesh and was detained upon returning from Kabul in the Bagram district of Parwan province.

Sources further add that Danesh, the former journalist, worked for Mitra Private TV channel, state-owned Maaref TV, and Dunya Radio in Parwan province and had been unemployed for some time.

The reason for the detention is still unclear. Taliban officials have not commented on the matter.

It is reported that Abdullah Danesh has been released today after spending two days in Taliban custody.

With returning to power, the Taliban group has blocked several media outlets and threatened some media organizations to cease their activities. Additionally, they have threatened, humiliated, detained, imprisoned, and tortured several journalists.
