The United Nations Office in Geneva has recently stated that nearly 400 million children under five years old around the world are facing violence in their homes. This situation is particularly alarming in Afghanistan, where many girls are forced into child marriages.
The World Food Programme (WFP), has emphasized in a report that severe poverty and hunger in Afghanistan have led many families to marry off their young daughters. This organization has described the situation as a “heart-breaking story” and considers ongoing droughts to be a major factor contributing to domestic violence, increased poverty, and hardship in Afghanistan.
According to United Nations statistics, by 2025, more than 12 million children in Afghanistan will need humanitarian assistance.
With the deprivation of girls from education above the sixth grade and the prohibition of their studies in universities, educational institutions, and medical sciences institutes, access to formal education for girls has been completely restricted.
