Kabul, March 20 (Afghan Women’s News Agency) – The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), by publishing the statistics of the presence of women in the higher education sector compiled by the UNESCO organization and comparing it between the past regime of the republic and the present Taliban regime, said that education cannot be delayed.
According to the report of the UNESCO organization, during the last two decades in Afghanistan, the presence of women in universities had increased twenty times, but with the rule of the Taliban, the presence of women in the higher education system has reached zero.
According to these statistics, in 2001, about five thousand women were studying in Afghan universities, but in 2021, this number had increased to twenty times, but in 2023, under the rule of the Taliban, this number has reached zero, and no woman has the right to study in Afghan universities.
UNAMA has called this situation unacceptable and emphasized that education cannot be postponed.
