On Friday, October 4, a group of protesting women from the Afghanistan History Transformation Movement organized a demonstration in Kabul, once again raising their voices to the international community and calling for the recognition of gender apartheid in the country.
These women showcased their messages on the walls of Kabul, emphasizing the urgent need to end the current conditions that women and girls endure under the Taliban’s rule, highlighting the inequalities and advocating for Afghanistan’s salvation from a humanitarian catastrophe.
Members of this movement further articulated that women and girls under Taliban governance are imprisoned within their own homes, declaring, “We cannot remain silent. We demand access to education, learning, and employment.”
This action occurred in a context where countries such as Germany, Canada, Australia, and the Netherlands warned the Taliban that if the group failed to respect the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan, they would pursue legal action against the group at the Court of Justice in The Hague.
The women are calling upon organizations that support women and girls, human rights entities, and international organizations to advocate for their lost rights, insisting that their voices must be heard.
