Sabrina Ogolini, newly appointed ambassador of Italy to Afghanistan, has stated that her mission will focus on promoting human rights and improving conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan.
The Italian Embassy announced through a post on X that Sabrina Ogolini’s mission for Afghanistan has commenced from Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Ogolini, in accepting this new responsibility with pride, expressed on her social media platform X that the core of her mission will revolve around human rights as well as the status of women and girls in Afghanistan.
Italy introduced a female ambassador to Afghanistan at a time when the Taliban had kept school and university gates closed to girls for over three years and imposed around 80 restrictive decrees against women and girls, depriving them of their fundamental rights to education, and work.
These developments unfold in a context where the Taliban has been continuously accused of human rights violations, and the international community remains deeply concerned about the situation of women and girls in the country.
