The United Nations Women’s Organization has recently released a report stating that the leader of the Taliban has destroyed the efforts of women over the past 20 years by issuing more than 70 decrees in less than three years.
This entity published a report on Monday stating, “The oppression endured by women and girls over the past three years is unprecedented in history.”
Furthermore, the organization emphasized that at least 30% of all financial assistance to Afghanistan should be allocated to women.
They have called for immediate global action to end the oppression of women and girls in Afghanistan.
Since their resurgence in the country, the Taliban have issued numerous decrees concerning women in Afghanistan. These decrees include depriving women and girls of the right to education, employment, participation in public life, recreation, the choice of clothing, visiting beauty salons, public baths, and travel.
This report is being released as the third meeting of special envoys from countries on Afghanistan, hosted by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, with the participation of Taliban representatives, will take place on June 30 this year in Qatar.
