Local sources in Kabul reported that the Taliban’s virtue promotion and vice prevention (religious) police have recently prohibited girls from boarding city buses at the Pul-e-Sokhta and Dar-ul-Aman stations.
According to the received information, these officers have denied access to city buses for girls who were not wearing masks, stating that without compliance with this requirement, they do not have permission to use public transportation.
Eyewitnesses have confirmed that girls dressed appropriately in long garments have been prevented from boarding minibuses by the Taliban’s virtue promotion and vice prevention police due to their failure to adhere to facial covering requirements and the absence of masks.
These actions fall within the framework of the Taliban’s stringent laws, specifically their code of virtue promotion and vice prevention regarding women’s attire, which is formulated based on the group’s particular interpretations of Islamic Sharia.
The new regulations imposed by the Taliban not only govern women’s attire but also monitor and control their behavior, significantly restricting their freedoms.
