The Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of the Taliban issued a directive to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation in Kabul requesting that entry must be denied to female visitors who are not wearing full hijab.
The document outlines five directives, three of which pertain to women. According to this letter, the offices of men and women must be segregated, and complete adherence to women’s hijab is to be emphasized. It further stipulates that the entry of female passengers or visitors without full hijab is prohibited.
In the meantime, it has been announced that a three-member committee has been established at the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation in Kabul to oversee the implementation of this new law for one month.
This memorandum and its associated regulations come on the heels of a recent report from the Taliban’s Ministry of Justice in Afghanistan, which published new decrees in the official gazette outlining various laws.
