Reaction of Afghan Women Protesters to Amina Mohammad’s Recent Remarks: We were surprised by her irresponsible statements

KABUL, April 20 (Afghan Women’s News Agency) – The members of Afghanistan’s powerful women’s movement, consisting of protesting women, reacting to the recent statements of UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammad, say that they are surprised by the irresponsible statements of this UN official.
By publishing a statement on Wednesday (April 19), this movement called Amina Mohammad’s recent statements an insult and betrayal of millions of men and women under the Taliban’s rule and tyranny, and demanded an explanation from the United Nations.

In a meeting at an American university, Amina Mohammad, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, announced the holding of a meeting hosted by the United Nations on May 1st in Doha. Amina Mohammad said that the conditions for the recognition of the Taliban by the United Nations will be discussed in this meeting.

In response to these statements, the Movement of Powerful Women of Afghanistan has said in its statement that the Taliban group does not deserve to be governed and recognized due to oppression of women and turning life into a bitter nightmare for Afghan citizens, and these words of Amina Mohammad are also a huge betrayal to the women who live under the oppression of the Taliban.

“After regaining control of Afghanistan, the Taliban has not spared any kind of oppression on the people of Afghanistan, especially women, and has turned life into a bitter nightmare for the women and people of Afghanistan. So, we consider Amina Mohammad’s statements from the UN address as a great insult to the people of Afghanistan and the oppressed women under the Taliban rule.”

The United Nations will host a meeting in Doha on May 1 of this year, where it is said that the conditions for the recognition of the Taliban will be discussed.
