Local sources in Ghazni province have reported the suspension of the recruitment of female teachers in girls’ schools by the Taliban group in this province.
Sources confirm to the Afghan Women’s News Agency that the Taliban Ministry of Education has recently halted the process of recruiting female teachers, and it is likely that this directive will be implemented in other provinces as well.
Reports indicate that in the Department of Education in Ghazni province, the Taliban group has administered competitive exams to male volunteers while telling female volunteers that their exams will not be administered until further notice.
It is unclear whether this directive has been issued publicly or if it is only applicable in Ghazni province. The Taliban Ministry of Education has not yet made any statements regarding this matter.
This comes as the Taliban leader ordered a few days ago for all female government employees to receive a salary of five thousand Afghanis, equivalent to 70 US dollars.
With their renewed dominance in Afghanistan, the Taliban have marginalized women from political spheres and their duties, and are gradually eliminating female teachers from the workforce.
