Sima Samar, former Head of the Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan, declared about the third Doha Meeting, stating that the Taliban does not represent the people of Afghanistan and that this group lacks popular support.
“Any decision-making without the presence of the Afghan people, especially women, is deemed unacceptable,” Sima Samar said.
Samar stressed: “The international community has excluded Afghan women from such conferences and decision-making processes, and acquiescing the demands of the Taliban further exacerbates human rights violations in Afghanistan.”
As the third Doha conference is set to be held tomorrow in Qatar, women’s protest movements, international organizations, women’s advocacy groups, and women’s rights activists have reacted to the absence of women representatives and civil society in the third Doha conference and have criticized how it is being conducted.
Among them, the women’s protest movement under the name of the Women’s Window of Hope Movement has organized a protest gathering in a closed place in Tehran in response to the convening of the third Doha Meeting and has sanctioned this meeting.
According to them, the oppression and tyranny of the Taliban have reached a breaking point and have endangered the lives of the Afghan people, particularly women. These protesters continue to emphasize that due to the disregard for women’s rights issues and their exclusion from participating in this conference, they condemn and boycott this conference.
It is worth mentioning that tomorrow, on Sunday, June 30, the third Doha meeting on Afghanistan, hosted by the United Nations, with the participation of representatives from various countries, is scheduled to take place in Qatar. It is reported that a delegation from the Taliban group is set to attend this conference in Doha.
