Takhar Women’s Solidarity Wave: The international community should not leave us alone in the fight against extremism

Protesting women, members of Takhar women’s solidarity wave, commemorated on March 8th during a protest program. In a protest gathering in a closed place, these women demanded the reopening of schools and universities for girls and criticized the silence of human rights institutions against women’s right to work and education. They sang the famous Afghani song “Sarzamin mann; My Land” with hatred.

Breshna Khorasani, the head of Takhar women’s solidarity wave, said:
“We protesting and fighting women are fed up with the oppression of the Taliban. The silence of the international community against the suppression of women by the Taliban is a confirmation of the Taliban’s crimes and violations of human rights standards. We once again ask the international community not to leave Afghan women alone in this fight against extremism.”

The protesting women also stressed that the United Nations and other human rights institutions are responsible for the women of Afghanistan. It should be remembered that nearly eighty women, consisting of female teachers and female heads of families, received financial aid with the help of this movement and the cooperation of Fawzia Kofi, a former member of parliament.

The women of Takhar held a protest meeting while some time ago, the Taliban arrested Parisa Mobarez, one of the protesting women of Takhar, and her brother from her house due to civil protests and released them on bail after interrogation.
