After three and a half years of Taliban rule in Afghanistan, schools, universities, and educational institutions have been closed to women and girls. Their social, economic, and cultural activities have come to a complete standstill.

The Afghanistan Women's Light of Freedom Movement, in a statement released on Tuesday, January 14, called for the establishment of scholarships for women and girls who have been deprived of their right to education in Afghanistan.

Malala Yousofzai, a women’s rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, called on Muslim leaders to respond to the ban on girls' education in Afghanistan and not to legitimize the Taliban during a conference on girls' education in Islamic countries. In this conference, which was held in Islamabad, Pakistan, she criticized the Taliban's strict policies against women and emphasized that it is time for Islamic leaders to vocally defend the rights of girls.

The United Nations Office in Geneva has recently stated that nearly 400 million children under five years old around the world are facing violence in their homes. This situation is particularly alarming in Afghanistan, where many girls are forced into child marriages

Local sources from Bamyan province informed the Afghan Women’s News Agency that, based on a recent decision by the Taliban Ministry of Economy, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international organizations have been mandated to refrain from hiring women and girls and to block their activities in the offices. This decision has halted the activities of women in all NGOs and associations in Bamyan province.

Since the regaining of power by the Taliban, girls have been barred from attending schools, although they were initially allowed to enroll in private educational centers. However, in a recent development, the Education Directorate of Herat has issued a decree prohibiting girls above the sixth grade from attending educational centers until further notice

Local sources from the Belcheragh district of Faryab province reported that a girl named Prima committed suicide a week ago due to forced marriage. The sources indicate that she passed away on Sunday in the hospital after several days of hospitalization.

Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of the Taliban has reported that two individuals, including a woman, have been detained in Kabul on charges of illicit relations.

Several protesting women, members of the Purple Saturdays Movement, have issued a call to other women's movements to unite in the struggle for their rights and against the Taliban. 

Local sources from the Farsi district of Herat province have informed Afghan Women's News Agency that a 25-year-old pregnant woman named Zarmina has lost her life due the remoteness medical centers. Her relatives indicate that she succumbed before reaching the hospital due the absence of adequate medical facilities. Reports suggest that she leaves behind a two-old child.

The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has reported that last year, it provided essential educational materials to 6.3 million children in Afghanistan, which includes girls.

Our sources say that two daughters of Suhail Shaheen, the head of the Taliban's political office in Doha, recently succeeded in earning their bachelor's degrees from University of Doha for Science and Technology.

Following Donald Trump’s election as President of the United States, women's rights activists in Afghanistan have expressed optimism that this new era will herald the end of terrorism and extremism in their country. 

These individuals are accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl after drinking alcohol in 2019, and a case was initiated against them based on the complaint of this German citizen. 

Reports indicate that the Taliban has provided private television officials in Afghanistan with a two-month deadline to convert all of their broadcasting content to audio formats.

A group of protesting women and members of the Empowered Women of Afghanistan Movement have issued a statement vehemently against the oppressive actions of the Taliban, asserting the group is systematically violating the fundamental rights of women and girls through arbitrary detentions.

Sabrina Ogolini, newly appointed ambassador of Italy to Afghanistan, has stated that her mission will focus on promoting human rights and improving conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan.

By achieving this target, Afghanistan not only triumphed in this match but also claimed the championship title of the Asian Under-19 Cricket Cup.
