Local sources from the Farsi district of Herat province have informed Afghan Women’s News Agency that a 25-year-old pregnant woman named Zarmina has lost her life due the remoteness medical centers. Her relatives indicate that she succumbed before reaching the hospital due the absence of adequate medical facilities. Reports suggest that she leaves behind a two-old child.
The death of this pregnant woman underscores the severe health challenges and lack of facilities in the remote regions of the country. Deteriorating roads and a scarcity of well-equipped medical centers are principal factors contributing to maternal mortality in the western parts of Afghanistan.
According to reports from the UN, a mother loses her life in Afghanistan in each two hours due to preventable complications related to pregnancy and delivery.
During their three years in power, the Taliban have shown blatant disregard for the fundamental problems and needs of the citizens, particularly pregnant women.
Rather than alleviating the challenges faced by the populace, this group imposes daily laws and decrees against women and girls, systematically denying them their rights to education, study, and participation in society.
