The Afghan Journalists Center reports an escalation of pressure on private media outlets. The report indicates that in the first half of this fiscal year, media officials received 60 notices and warnings from Taliban-associated authorities, while 29 media personnel endured temporary detentions.
Among these, one journalist remains imprisoned in Ghazni Province.
The findings of this center reveal that the Taliban’s intelligence and promotion of virtue agencies have intervened in the production of media content, effectively transforming numerous private media outlets into platforms for expressing their ideologies.
During this period, seven media outlets received directives from the Taliban to cease operations, including two television stations located in the capital.
