The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced that since September last year, it has provided humanitarian assistance to over 111,700 Afghan returnees.
According to the organization’s annual report, nearly all of the beneficiaries of this aid are women, and 2.5% of them are individuals with disabilities.
Additionally, one in four families that have received assistance is headed by women.
From September 15, 2023, to September 30, 2024, it is anticipated that over 733,300 refugees will return to Afghanistan. During this period, the number of Afghan returnees from Pakistan has seen a notable increase compared to the previous.
Reports indicate that the number of Afghans returning from Pakistan has risen in comparison to last year, and both Iran and Pakistan have intensified the forced deportation of Afghan refugees over the past two years.
Given the ongoing forced expulsions by Pakistan and Iran, the situation surrounding the return of Afghans to their country remains a significant challenge.
