The United Nations Security Council will convene a special session today regarding the situation in Afghanistan.
This session, scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM Kabul time, will involve a presentation of the UN Secretary-General’s report on Afghanistan, including the findings of UNAMA over the past three months and a report on how humanitarian aid is being delivered in Afghanistan.
According to the report by António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, which has been made available to the media, a 55% increase in security incidents will be highlighted, and UNAMA will express concerns about the rise in public, physical punishments.
Members of the Security Council will also share their expectations for the upcoming Doha meeting, scheduled to take place in the next ten days, during this session.
