Several protesting women, members of the Purple Saturdays Movement, have issued a call to other women’s movements to unite in the struggle for their rights and against the Taliban.
This women’s movement has articulated on its social media platform X that, despite the threats and severe repression from the Taliban, they will persist in the struggle. Furthermore, the movement emphasizes that only by solidarity they can stand firm against the injusticesated by the Taliban group.
The Purple Saturdays Movement has also highlighted the perilous conditions faced by women and girls under Taliban rule, advocating for the formation of a united front to confront the group’s oppressions.
They have stressed that peaceful protests are met with harsh repression, and women’s rights activists encounter threats such as warnings, arrests, imprisonment, and physical and psychological torture.
This movement continues that only through unity and solidarity they can effectively address the challenges ahead and reclaim the rights that have been stripped from women and girls.
