The Taliban flogged four women in Baghlan for not having Mahram

According to local sources in Baghlan province, local Taliban officials flogged four women in a field court in Pul-e-Khumri on Monday (Feb 21, 2022).

The women went to the bazaar in Pul-e-Khumri to shop and were then questioned by Taliban members for not having a Mahram.

According to local sources in Baghlan province, local Taliban officials flogged four women in a field court in Pul-e-Khumri on Monday (Feb 21, 2022).

The women went to the bazaar in Pul-e-Khumri to shop and were then questioned by Taliban members for not having a Mahram. When they were convinced that they did not have a Mahram, they flogged the women in public and warned them not to come out their homes without a Mahram.

Whereas, residents of Pul-e-Khumri say that the Taliban religious police are harassing people, especially women, under various pretexts.
And arbitrarily hold field courts for them and flog them.

The Taliban also warned shopkeepers not to sell goods to women without a mahram and barred drivers from transporting such women.

Meanwhile, Taliban troops also lashed a young man in public in Uruzgan province. Taliban members have claimed to have arrested the man and a woman on charges of adultery. No details have been released about the fate of the detained woman.

About a week ago, the group also stoned a woman and a man to death in Nesai district of Badakhshan province for adultery.

According to local sources, the man and woman, who were residents of Baghlan and Mazar, were stoned to death without any evidence.
