Isobel Jung, a British journalist and documentary filmmaker, reported her threatened expulsion from Afghanistan by the Taliban.
The reporter tweeted today (Friday, May 13, 2022) that the Taliban had ordered her to leave Afghanistan without questioning because of her reports on the human rights and women’s rights situation.
She further added that the Taliban had revoked her permission to continue filming and ordered her to leave Afghanistan immediately.
Isobel stated that the Taliban attributed her expulsion from Afghanistan to problems in her report on women’s rights.
“The Taliban ordered us not to leave our hotel and to leave Afghanistan immediately.”
Isobel Jung, a British journalist and documentary filmmaker, conducted a controversial interview in 2016 with Nazir Ahmad Hanafi, a member of the Afghan parliament.
In this interview, Hanafi insulted the reporter, thinking that she did not understand his language.
After the Taliban rule in the country, journalists and the media have lost their independence and journalists are facing a serious challenge of not having access to information and the Taliban do not hold themselves accountable for answering any questions from reporters, and now even they do not allow foreign reporters to investigate the situation of women.
