The Supreme Court of the Taliban group states that a man has been publicly lashed 39 times on charges of theft in Wardak province.

This court announced on Wednesday, April 17th, through a statement that the whipping sentence was carried out on a man in the Sayed Abad district of Wardak province in a public setting.

According to this judicial institution of the Taliban, the whipping sentence on this man was executed in the presence of the Chief Justice, prosecutors, and some officials of this group.

The Taliban group has increased the public execution of suspects in the past month. While public executions and whippings are considered to degrade the dignity and human rights of individuals and undermine their honour and reputation, they also have undesirable consequences.

Nevertheless, some time ago, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban group, had emphasized the execution of stoning and whipping of suspects in an audio tape, as well as during the Eid prayer ceremony in Kandahar, he had emphasized stoning, whipping, and amputation.
