According to reports from Pakistani media, from April 3 to 13, 2024, at least 8,581 Afghan refugees have been expelled from this country.
Pakistan’s stringent laws against Afghan migrants and their forced expulsion to Afghanistan have raised concerns among families, women, and individuals who had sought refuge there for various reasons, including security issues and the asylum process.
SAMAA TV, one of the Pakistani media outlets, announced on Sunday night, April 14, that 3,127 men, 1,972 women, and 3,482 children are among the newly expelled Afghan refugees from Pakistan.
As per the report published by this media outlet, the recently expelled refugees consist of 310 families who have been returned to Afghanistan using 287 vehicles.
After the fall of the government in August 2021 in Afghanistan, a large number of Afghans migrated to neighboring countries, including Pakistan. However, in recent months, Pakistan has enforced strict laws against Afghan migrants and forcibly expelled many of them.
It is noteworthy that many Afghan migrants, including women activists in Pakistan, had sought refuge for security reasons in the past two years and are now concerned about their future upon returning to Afghanistan.
Despite repeated calls and demands from international organizations, including refugee-related entities, to halt the forced expulsion of Afghans from Pakistan, this trend continues, and Pakistani authorities have stated that the process of expelling Afghans from the country will persist.
