BALKH, March 28 (Afghan Women’s News Agency) – Radio Rabia Balkhi, in cooperation with UNAMA and the Committee for the Immunity of Afghan Journalists, started its broadcasting activity again in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh province.

This is a women’s radio station based in Balkh, which was destroyed in a fire on January 14, 2022.

Officials of this radio say that with the resumption of this radio, employment has been provided for a number of Afghan women.

After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, restrictions were placed on media activity and many media stopped working and hundreds of journalists lost their jobs.
Meanwhile, most of the women journalists stayed at home and the few women who work in the private media have been severely restricted. The Taliban restricted the presence of women in the media through repeated orders, including wearing masks for announcers, men not being invited to programs hosted by women.
According to the surveys of the National Union of Afghan Journalists, there are currently no women journalists in 14 provinces of this country.
