AFGHANISTAN – Local Taliban officials in Panjshir and Oruzgan provinces have reported that as a result of the flooding in these provinces, three individuals have lost their lives and extensive financial damages have been incurred.
Mohibullah Jahid, the head of the natural disaster management department of the Taliban in Panjshir province, stated that as a result of the flooding, three residential houses in the districts of Dara, Hesa-e-Awal were destroyed, a rural road in Anaba district was blocked, and a small water power line was also demolished.
However, the head of the natural disaster management department of the Taliban group in Oruzgan province stated that due to recent heavy rainfall and flooding in Terin Kot, the capital of this province, three people have lost their lives, many houses have been destroyed, and hundreds of acres of agricultural land have been ruined.
It is worth mentioning that Taliban officials in the government ministry dealing with natural disasters reported that as a result of recent heavy rainfall and flooding in Afghanistan, 33 people have lost their lives and 27 others have been injured.
Janan Sayeq, the spokesperson for the government ministry dealing with natural disasters of the Taliban, stated during a press conference on Sunday, April 26th, that these individuals have lost their lives in provinces such as Farah, Kandahar, Badghis, Parwan, Oruzgan, Takhar, Zabul, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kabul, Khost, Daykundi, Konar, Kapisa, Herat, Panjshir, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, and Laghman.
He added that as a result of these natural disasters in Afghanistan, 606 houses, 1950 acres of agricultural land, and 85 kilometres of road have been destroyed.
Recent floods in Afghanistan have claimed the lives of dozens and caused significant financial damage to the country’s residents.
