The National Examination Administration of Afghanistan has announced the date for the nationwide Konkour exam, Universities Entrance Exam, for the year 1403.
Abdul Baqi Haqani, the acting director of the National Examination Administration of Afghanistan, stated in a press conference in Kabul on Thursday, May 23rd, that this year’s Konkour exam has been organized into five stages, with the first stage scheduled to take place from the 6th to the 8th of June.
The announcement of the Konkour exam dates comes amidst Mr. Haqani’s silence on the participation of girls in these examinations, indicating that this year’s Konkour, like in past years, may be conducted without the presence of female students.
This situation unfolds as 795 days have passed since girls’ schools have been closed to higher-grade students and nearly two years since female students have been prohibited from attending the country’s universities.
Some female students have expressed concerns regarding this matter, stating their expectation to participate in the Konkour for the year 1403 A.H.S, yet no mention has been made about the presence of girls in these examinations.
According to these students, the fate of girls should be deemed as significant as that of male students, urging officials to lift the educational restrictions imposed on girls.
Mr. Haqani further mentioned in this conference that the exams for Maidan Wardak, Logar, Parwan, Kabul, Panjshir, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Kandahar, Zabul, Bamyan, Samangan, Badghis, Herat, Ghor, and Nuristan will be held in the first stage.
The second stage is set to take place on the 21st and 22nd days of June in Kabul, and the third stage on the 27th and 28th days of June will hold the Konkour exams in Takhar, Kunduz, Balkh, Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul, Faryab, Uruzgan, Baghlan, Daykundi, and Badakhshan provinces.
