Seventeen hours after the crash of the helicopter carrying President Sayed Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, the joint efforts of the intelligence teams of Turkey and Iran finally yielded results.
The Iranian government announced the death of President Raisi.
Officials from the Red Crescent in Iran say that most of the passengers of the helicopter were unidentifiable due to the outbreak of a fire on board, and they are currently being transferred to the city of Tabriz.
The Tehran Stock Exchange market is closed today, and the Iranian government has declared the deceased as martyrs.
Sayed Ebrahim Raisi, aged 64, was considered a close and trusted figure from an intellectual standpoint by Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran. Before assuming the presidency in the year 1400 A.H.S, he had been active for four decades in various sectors of the Iranian judiciary, including serving as the head of the judiciary. He is largely viewed by human rights activists in Iran as a key figure in suppressing critics of the current Iranian regime.
According to Article 131 of the Iranian Constitution, the First Vice President will assume the responsibility of running the country based on the Supreme Leader’s directive and will pave the way for elections within fifty days.
