Girls deprived of education: “Our future must not be left to oblivion”

As the new academic year approaches, schoolgirls and university students who have been deprived of their right to education are calling for the reopening of schools and universities to girls in the new year. They argue that education is a fundamental right for both men and women, and their future should not be consigned to oblivion.

Asma Rezaei, a student who has been unable to continue her studies for over a year, was a third-year student at the Faculty of Economics. She now eagerly awaits the reopening of university gates in the new year.

She states, “It has been over a year since we were not able to go to university and study like before. We, just like boys, have the right to education, and I hope that with the arrival of the new year, we can once again go to our classes with enthusiasm, alongside our friends, and continue our studies.”

Meanwhile, with the start of March month, the spring semester of universities has begun for male students, but there is no news about the fate of female students.

Sumaya Mohammadi, a high school graduate, is concerned that she will not be able to attend school in the coming year and continue her studies from the seventh grade onwards.

She expresses, “I want the school gates to reopen in the new year so that we can study from the seventh grade onwards and build our future. Every time I remember that I cannot go to school in the new year, I become very upset at the thought of missing my classes and teachers.”

904 days have passed since the closure of schools to female students above the sixth grade, and over a year has passed since female university students have not been able to attend. They are deeply concerned about continuing these restrictions and urge officials to reopen the gates of schools and universities to girls.
