Local authorities of the Taliban in the province of Ghor have reported the whipping of six individuals in this province.

Taliban’s Intelligence and Culture Office in the province of Ghor stated on Sunday that, based on the verdict and order of the Sharia Court of Appeal in this province, six individuals were publicly whipped.

According to the information provided by this office, the six individuals were accused of extramarital relationships and fleeing from home, with five of them receiving 39 lashes and another one receiving 27 lashes at the sports studio in Firuzkuh City, the center of Ghor.

Although Taliban mobile courts have always been criticized by human rights organizations, the implementation of these courts, including the punishment of whipping individuals, has increased in recent months.

As per published reports, last week the Taliban whipped eight individuals in the province of Nimroz in public. Additionally, the Taliban’s Court in Ghazni province had reported the whipping of two individuals on charges of theft in the district of Maqur in this province.
