Following the devastating floods in Baghlan and several other provinces in Afghanistan, the World Health Organization has announced that it has provided seven metric tons of medical supplies, including essential medications and equipment, to the flood-affected individuals in northern Afghanistan.

In a statement released on Sunday, the organization stated that this shipment is part of its ongoing efforts to assist Afghanistan in the aftermath of the destructive floods that have impacted several areas and displaced many others.

According to the published statement, preventive measures have been taken to prevent the potential spread of waterborne illnesses such as diarrhoea.

Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has distributed relief packages to flood victims, including temporary shelters, essential non-food items, clothing, and lighting supplies.

The organization further emphasizes that its relief teams are working tirelessly in an indefatigable manner to deliver emergency assistance to flood-affected individuals.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has also provided humanitarian assistance to the flood-affected areas, including emergency shelters, health equipment, food supplies, and cash assistance.

These floods occurred shortly after the State Ministry for Natural Disaster Management had issued warnings about the arrival of floods and heavy rainfall.
