The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), has recently announced that recent heavy rainfall in Afghanistan has destroyed 540 homes and 1,500 acres of agricultural land in 7 provinces of the country.

According to the OCHA report published on Saturday, March 30, the recent intense rainfall in recent days in some provinces of Afghanistan has resulted in the loss of at least 7 lives and 384 families have been affected.

It is reported that the intense rainfall in provinces such as Nangarhar, Faryab, and Daykundi has caused the most significant damage.

Janan Saaeq, the spokesperson for the State Ministry for Disasters Management of the Taliban group, had reported on March 2 that as a result of heavy snowfall, in just 12 days, 20 people had lost their lives and 14 others had been injured.

“The recent heavy snowfall has led to the destruction of 452 homes and the death of over 5,253 livestock in the country,” Saaeq said.

In recent years, natural disasters such as severe rainfall, floods, and earthquakes in Afghanistan have inflicted severe human and financial losses on the inhabitants of this country.
