Officials in the Herayrod River Basin state that following rainfall in Ghor province, the water reserves in the Salma Dam have reached their highest level.

Sardar Wali Muzamel, the Taliban head of the Herayrod River Basin, has stated that due to the rising water level in this dam, on Friday night, May 17, 400 cubic meters of water were released from the dam.

Mr. Muzamel further adds that the release of this amount of water is due to the increase in water resources, and there is no cause for concern along the waterway, as the water boundary of the Herayrod River is 500 square meters, which has been previously communicated to the people in this area.

The head of the Herayrod River Basin states that to prevent the destruction of the Salma Dam, 400 cubic meters of water have been released, and currently more than 480 million cubic meters of water are stored.

Furthermore, he recalls the construction work of the Pashdan dam and states that the construction of this dam will also be completed in the next 7 to 8 months.

It is worth mentioning that recent rains in Herat while alleviating droughts, have led to a 3 to 5-meter increase in water levels.

Meanwhile, recent floods in various provinces of the country have resulted in significant human and financial losses. According to published statistics, more than 300 people have lost their lives in Balkh province due to the floods, and approximately a thousand houses have been destroyed.

In Ghor province, the Emergency Committee of this province has announced through a newsletter that so far fifty residents of this province, have lost their lives, and ten others are missing.
