GHOR, AFGHANISTAN - In a video that has come into the hands of media outlets, it is seen that Taliban members in Ghor province forcibly took a 17-year-old girl from her home and married her off to one of their fighters.

GHOR, AFGHANISTAN – In a video that has come into the hands of media outlets, it is seen that Taliban members in Ghor province forcibly took a 17-year-old girl from her home and married her off to one of their fighters.

This incident took place on Saturday, March 23, in Norak village, Pasaband district of Ghor province, and in this video, the cries and screams of the girl’s family members can also be heard.

According to the “8 am” newspaper during the abduction of this girl, all local Taliban officials, including Khairullah Khairkhwa, the district governor, Abdul Hamid Khalid, the security commander, Mohammad Moshfiq, the intelligence deputy, and Tawhidi, the intelligence chief of Pasaband district, were present.

Based on a report published by the United States Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, indicates that after 2021, 35% of girls in Afghanistan were forced into marriage before reaching the age of 18, and 17% were married before reaching the age of 15.
