KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Public sources reported the detention of three protesting girls and their brother in Kabul by the Taliban group.

These four individuals, Nadia, Elaha, Azada, and Yahya Rezaei, were apprehended by the Taliban intelligence from their residence in Dasht-e-Barchi area in Kabul on Wednesday afternoon, March 27.

Among these four siblings, Nadia and Elaha are under the legal age and are considered minors, but despite that, they have been detained without being charged.

Relatives of these four individuals have confirmed their arrest by the Taliban group, and the reason for their detention remains unclear. The Taliban has not provided any explanation regarding this matter thus far.

According to sources, the pursuit and search for these individuals by their relatives have revealed that they were not held by the Taliban police force but rather detained and held by a clandestine Taliban service, and the location of their detention remains unknown.

With the return of the Taliban to power, women and girls have protested against the deprivation of their basic rights by the Taliban. The Taliban, unwilling to listen to even the slightest voice of criticism and protest, have detained numerous protesting women and girls from across the country.
