Afghan Women’s News Agency – Our local sources from Bamyan, one of the world’s most ancient city located in the center of Afghanistan, inform that the Taliban, after digging tombs in several districts of Bamyan, are now looking to steal some of the world’s cultural heritages in this city under the pretext of restoration.

According to the sources, the Taliban group has recently taken over the restoration of Zohak city and they are rebuilding the corridors of this historical city with the financial help of UNESCO, but every night they dig parts of Zohak city in order to find ancient artifacts.

Sources emphasize that a number of residents of the village of Shashpol, who live near the city of Zohak, have seen the excavation of this historical site by the Taliban, but the Taliban have threatened them not to tell anyone.

During more than two years of their rule in Bamyan, the local Taliban members have destroyed many historical places of this city. Excavation of Buddha, Gholghla city, historical places located in Sadat valley and Dokhtar Shah tomb in Punjab district is one of the historical places that Taliban excavated and stole historical monuments of it.
