Taliban Supreme Court Administers Flogging to 19 Individuals
During the past week, the Taliban group has reported flogging 19 individuals in the provinces of Khost, Faryab, Balkh, Kandahar, and Kabul.

During the past week, the Taliban group has reported flogging 19 individuals in the provinces of Khost, Faryab, Balkh, Kandahar, and Kabul.

The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced in a newsletter on Wednesday, April 3rd, that a person accused of touching a woman, outside of having a family relationship, in the Char Bolak district of Balkh province has been sentenced to 25 lashes and six months of imprisonment. The man was publicly flogged on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Furthermore, in the recent week, the Taliban has lashed six individuals in Khost province on charges of fraud with 39 lashes. Additionally, on Tuesday, April 2nd, two more individuals in Khost were sentenced to 5 months and 18 months of imprisonment after being flogged.

Moreover, the Taliban has also sentenced six individuals in Kandahar province and two others in Kabul city on various charges to 39 lashes and two years of imprisonment.

In Faryab province, the group flogged a man and a woman on charges of extramarital relations and fleeing from home, sentencing them to 30 lashes and one year of imprisonment.

Since taking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have publicly flogged many individuals and have executed five people in provinces such as Laghman, Ghazni, Jowzjan, and Farah.

Recently, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban group, emphasized in a statement through an audio tape the implementation of stoning women and flogging suspects. He stated, “In the future, we will publicly lash women, even though this goes against democracy, we will enforce these judgments.”
