The World Food Program (WFP) has announced that as a result of the ongoing destructive floods in Baghlan province, more than 300 people have lost their lives and approximately a thousand houses have been destroyed.

The World Food Program today, May 11, posted on their social media page X that these floods occurred due to unusual heavy rainfall, causing significant human and financial damages.

The organization further added that the World Food Program is currently distributing enriched biscuits to the survivors in Baghlan.

According to local sources, the Fulol area and central villages of the Barka district have suffered the most damage, with the floods claiming the lives of 250 individuals in the Barka and centeral Baghlan districts.

Some time ago, the State Ministry for the Management of Disasters had announced that recent floods in various provinces of Afghanistan had claimed the lives of 85 people. According to the ministry, the floods in the provinces of Baghlan, Takhar, Badakhshan, Samangan, Faryab, Herat, and Ghor have injured over 100 more individuals.
