Asila Wardak, a former diplomat and one of the participants in the Norway conference, stated that the topics discussed during the conference included migrants, humanitarian aid, girls’ education, employment, and women’s economic empowerment.

Ms. Wardak, today, May 16, wrote on her X page that she was one of the 40 participants in the two-day conference in Oslo, the capital of Norway, and representatives from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and even Taliban delegates attended the recent Oslo conference.

Simultaneously with the commencement of the conference, some women’s rights activists, in response to the invitation of Taliban representatives to Oslo for talks, protested and demanded not to recognize the Taliban officially. They have stated that countries around the world should not engage in dialogue with them.

Regarding the criticisms that have been raised, Asila Wardak wrote: “Women are not commodities or traitors; the Taliban is the common enemy of all women. Before casting any aspersions, please supplement your information.”

Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Afghanistan, was also one of the participants in this conference. In his remarks, he viewed his meeting with Afghan women, civil society members, and some political activists in Norway as positive.
