Recent remarks by Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, regarding stoning and flogging women in public, have stirred strong reactions among Afghan citizens, especially women.
Civil society organizations, in response to Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada’s recent statements, have stated that his words promote gender apartheid, disregard human values, and undermine the principles of freedom and equality.
Meanwhile, members of the Afghan Women’s Unity and Solidarity Team, in response to Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada’s recent statements, have expressed that with the issuance of such orders, hope dwindles in the hearts of Afghan women, and the human rights situation in this country worsens every day.
Some women also mention that conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan are becoming more challenging every day, and the global community seems to have forgotten Afghan women.
Some time ago, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, in his remarks referred to the implementation of stoning women and flogging, stating that although these actions go against democracy, they adhere to these decrees.
