GHAZNI, AFGHANISTAN – The Ministry of Interior of the Taliban has announced the detention of three individuals on charges of fasting violations in Ghazni province.

The ministry stated on Saturday, March 23rd, through a press release that it has detained 39 individuals on various charges including document forgery, fasting violations, theft, and drug trafficking from different provinces.

The press release mentioned that these three individuals did not have any legitimate excuse for not observing fasting. No details have been provided regarding the identities of these individuals.

Islamic jurisprudence allows Muslims who are travellers or ill to be exempt from fasting due to being on a journey or being sick, but the Taliban group does not deal with this as a religious issue and does not respect people’s beliefs.

Meanwhile, the Taliban group continues to detain and torture more young people in Afghanistan on various charges.
