Afghan Women’s News Agency – After the Taliban imposed restrictions on the work of relief agencies and the lack of funds for humanitarian aid in Afghanistan, economic and human rights problems are increasing alarmingly in the country.

The World Food Program (WFP) has expressed concern about the situation in Afghanistan by publishing a newsletter on the X social network and said that it needs a billion dollar budget to prevent a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan, this organization can provide food aid to only one from every five citizens in need in Afghanistan.

The increase in poverty and severe unemployment in Afghanistan has caused a number of poor families to force their daughters to marry in exchange for money and saving them from starvation.

Mir Ahmad is a resident of one of the remote districts of Herat province, who, due to poverty and economic problems, has forced his 14-year-old daughter to marry a man whom his daughter does not like.

Mir Ahmad says: “When I couldn’t find a morsel of bread for my only daughter, I thought that marriage is the best way for my daughter to be saved from the poverty and misery we have, and the amount of money we get will solve some of my family’s problems. My daughter was not agree with this marriage, but we had no other choice because I have no job, no income, and there is no help for us poor people, so that at least we don’t die of hunger.

Mir Ahmed is a clear example of the dire situation of thousands of families in Afghanistan who force their daughters to marry against their will due to poverty and economic problems.

At the same time, human rights activists have expressed concern about this situation and say that the continuation of this situation will cause a severe human rights crisis in Afghanistan.

UNICEF recently expressed concern about the increase in forced marriages in Afghanistan and said that the organization has received credible reports that families are even offering baby girls for future marriage in exchange for money.
