The Supreme Court of the Taliban group has announced the public flogging of six individuals accused of fraud in Khost province.

The Supreme Court of the Taliban group has announced the public flogging of six individuals accused of fraud in Khost province.

The Taliban’s Supreme Court stated in a newsletter on Monday, April 1st, that six individuals were sentenced to 39 lashes by the Public Security Court of the city’s lower court in Khost province on charges of fraud and were publicly punished.

Since gaining control of Afghanistan, the Taliban group has publicly flogged many individuals and executed five people in provinces such as Logar, Ghazni, Jawzjan, and Farah.

While public execution and flogging are considered insults and humiliations to the dignity of human beings, tarnishing their status and honour, they will have undesirable consequences.

Some time ago, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban group, emphasized in his remarks in an audio tape the stoning of women and public flogging, stating, “We will publicly lash women in the future, even though this goes against democracy, but we will enforce these judgments.”
