Taliban’s Supreme Court: A woman and a man received 35 lashes in Balkh
BALKH, Feb 26 (Afghanistan Women's News Agency) - The Taliban's Supreme Court, on its website, has reported the lashing of a woman and a man with 35 lashes each on charges of moral corruption in Balkh province.

BALKH, Feb 26 (Afghanistan Women’s News Agency) – The Taliban’s Supreme Court, on its website, has reported the lashing of a woman and a man with 35 lashes each on charges of moral corruption in Balkh province.

According to this court, these two individuals, based on the order of the initial court of Balkh district, the appellate court of Balkh province, and the confirmation of the general court of the high-ranking judiciary of this group, were sentenced to 35 lashes and two years of imprisonment.

This sentence was carried out on Sunday, the February 25th, in the courtyard of the appellate court of Balkh province, in the presence of the officials of this group in the public view.

Faridudin Haqani, the head of the judiciary and acting director of the appellate court of Balkh province, while overseeing the execution of the sentence, stated: “The two accused individuals engaged in illicit relations, fleeing from home, and seclusion with a non-mahram. The execution of the sentence serves as a punishment for themselves and a lesson for others.”

Today, Monday, February 26th, is also scheduled to carry out the execution of a retribution sentence by the group in Sheberghan, the capital of Jawzjan province.
